Concern for the environment and the need to take concrete measures in the face of the climate crisis have become issues of vital importance in today’s society. That is why organizations and educational communities, such as Fundació Escolàpies, address this issue from different areas.
Desi Moreno, Laudato Si’ Animator and Director of Fundació Escolàpies, leads this project that brings together 10 infant, primary and secondary schools in Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands.
One of Fundació Escolàpies’ main areas of action is the implementation of educational projects that promote environmental awareness among students.
The Escolàpies Sabadell school, for example, has launched a project on the Water Footprint, which seeks to raise awareness about the responsible use of water and find everyday solutions to reduce our impact on this vital resource.
This approach is integrated at all educational levels, allowing children and youth to become actively involved in the search for sustainable solutions.
The ultimate goal is to become a Blue School, where all members of the educational community collaborate in the sustainable management of available resources. This approach seeks not only to raise awareness, but also to awaken students’ interest in STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) related to sustainability and the environment.
We invite you to join Laudato Si’ Week and take initiatives to care for our common home.
