The action of local leaders is the “firstfruits” of hope, which gives life to a better future during the Season of Creation. The Laudato Si’ Animators reflect the fruits of these actions through the many activities they have organized in recent weeks.

  • Workshop for teens and new Laudato Si’ Circle

In Taranto, Italy, a workshop was held for teenagers between 14 and 18 years of age – a unique journey to discover the Care of Creation, inspired by Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato si’.

Participants watched the film ‘The Letter’ and, along with a series of practical activities, worked on the link between people and nature. After three sessions, the group formed a Laudato Si’ Circle!

  • A Letter to the Prime Minister

The UK Laudato Si’ Animators took advantage of the Season of Creation to write an open letter to the Prime Minister with five commitments: introduce the Climate and Nature Act; transition from animal agriculture to organic farming; sign the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty; support rewilding and the Rewilding Britain Manifesto; ensure that companies pay for their pollution and adopt non-polluting practices and products.

  • Important service in Patagonia

The Argentina Chapter spoke on its radio program about the work of the Animators of the Patagonian region, who address the environmental problems in the area, seeking to raise awareness of the consequences of the environmental crisis, generating activities and publicizing the Encyclical Letter Laudato Si.

On the east coast, the region has maritime pollution from plastics, hydrocarbons, and overfishing; and in the west, open-pit mega-mining, invasion of foreign species (pines), and deforestation. In turn, the impoverishment of agricultural and livestock activities, which were the livelihoods of the communities, and the loss of biodiversity are a problem.

  • Inspiring places, brilliant events

Ecumenical prayers in France, events with children and their parents in Prague, informative podcasts in Costa Rica, testimonies from the Caribbean and ecological rosaries. These and more inspiring activities have been celebrated by our Animators across the globe. Laudato Si’!
