The consistent barrage of bad news – such as more wildfires and droughts because of warming temperatures – and the lack of action by political leaders around the world can make us feel anxious.
But you can do something today that has been scientifically proven to help: you can take action by becoming a Laudato Si’ Animator.
Animators learn from world-renowned experts on the root causes of the climate crisis and the core messages of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ encyclical that has helped millions of Catholics better understand the role they can play in ending the climate crisis and caring for creation.
The free training also helps Animators feel connected with thousands of passionate and like-minded people during these difficult times.
Experiencing the climate crisis personally or even reading or watching news about the climate crisis “can cause anxiety, depression, secondary trauma, and other psychological conditions.”
A 2019 report from the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication found that 66 percent of those surveyed were at least “somewhat worried about climate change.”
The Yale program shared three ways all of us can care for our mental health during the climate crisis:
- Acknowledge how you are feeling and talk about it.
- Strengthen your communities.
- Take action.
The free Laudato Si’ Animator training training features all three: a space to talk about your feelings, a community, and the opportunity to take action.
At the end of the six-week training, all Animators lead their community to care for creation by completing a final project. Join the free program today.
